For more information see...

I happened to glance at my referrer logs this morning and noticed a link coming from eBay.  I couldn't imagine what possible connection my site could have with an online auction so I followed the link.

I turns out that some guy up in Hedera is selling a can of Loof on eBay and had linked to an entry I wrote last year about this wonderful stuff.  When I checked, his can of Loof had only garnered one bid (for 99 cents). So even though the IDF is no longer issuing the stuff to the troops, it doesn't look like these cans are going to be collectors items any time soon.

That's good news because I only have about 20 cans left in the pantry... and I'll probably have to score some more before the supply really dries up.

Once in a while I open up a can, slice it into small cubes and fry it with onions.  I then add it to scrambled eggs for a wonderful mid-week dinner.  The kids love it too (not that I share, mind you)!

[sigh]

It's not even 6:15 in the morning and I'm already hungry for dinner!!!!  Oh well... one thing is certain: You won't be seeing any of my loof up on eBay!

In Israel, do bloggers suffer from "comment loof" and "trackback loof"?

Just asking, is all.

I see from here:

http://www.haaretzdaily.com/hasen/spages/621184.html

that Israel is sending battle rations to the Katrina vicitims.

And from this post from AKS:

http://allisonkaplansommer.blogmosis.com/history/027161.html

when Israel did the same after the tsunami, there was loof included.

So I guess you know where to go to get some more...

I really, really, really don't understand how you actually enjoy loof. It truly boggles my mind. Maybe because I was practically force-fed the stuff for a year and a half I resent it so much. I dont know though...it tastes awful. But to each his own I guess!

I personally found the loof a bit on the salty side but the turkey "roulada" really wasn't bad at all. You got any of those?

It sounds revolting, but I guess it's things like that that make us all indiviudals.

my husband's commander threw up after watching one of his soldiers eat 4 cans of loof in 5 minutes with no water (on a dare)

Too funny! But he says the can expired six months ago, so I hope the buyer really does only want it as a collector's item...

Elisson... Very cute. :-)

Dave... As Allison implied in her earlier post, some people wouldn't consider sending loof to be a humanitarian gesture. :-)

Harry... Al Taam V'Reach... So long as we agree on how to BBQ, right? :-) I fell in love with it while I was in the navy and first becoming religious. Loof was a welcome break from salad and tuna! I guess it is all a matter of perspective.

Ben... Sorry, fresh out.

Ifyouwillit... Trust me, there are lots of things you enjoy eating only because you have no idea how it is prepared. Ignorance really is bliss.

Naomi... I get queasy watching hot-dog eating contests and I LOVE hot dogs. I can only imagine how such a scene must look to someone who has an aversion to the stuff.

Tanya... The expiration date on Loof is really just an arbitrary guesstimate. This stuff doesn't have a shelf life... it has a half-life!

"I'd like the loof, loof, loof, baked beans and loof."

"Sorry. The baked beans are off."

Has anyone else ever heard of Scrapple? I believe it's the leftovers of Spam. I never ate it, but only saw it being prepared (fried) and the green tint was enough for me to gag. But people from Delaware and Pennsylvania love it. Perhaps a way for the IDF to raise money is to market Loof in those states. I am sure they will get rich.

Sounds yummy. I am going to bid on it!! :)

Doctor Bean... Believe it or not, one of the things I really can't find here is a decent can of baked beans! I have to remember to pick some up the next time I'm back in the states. Thanks for reminding me!

Jaime... Scrapple is actually the leftover scraps of a pig that nobody could figure out what to do with. They are boiled up and served in a ketchup-like sauce, Yummy!

Stacey... Good luck! :-)
